Getting Ready for 2009

Actually, ready or not 2009 will be here in less than a week. I am not a very superstitious person BUT my Mama was. When I was a child we always have Blackeye Peas and Greens for dinner on New Years Day. She said that meal helped with the finances for the year. The Peas were for pennies and the Greens were for dollars. Supposedly the more you ate the more money you were supposed to get. I guess that is why I still rake in the pennies. I have never had a bite of any kind of green, can't get passed the terrible smell of them, but I love blackeye peas to this day. Another famous superstition of hers was no laundry being done on the 1st of January. She would have a heart attack if I hung the kitchen towel up to dry. She claimed if you washed or in most cases even dried clothes on New Years Day then someone in the family would die that year. What a way to scare a kid to death. Just think about how traumatising it would be to know you dried the kitchen towel and killed poor Great Aunt Bee. I still will not wash or dry clothes on the 1st, even though my Mama passed away 10 years ago and can't stop me. You will be glad to know that I have not passed this traditional superstition on to my children BUT I do keep a close eye on them and make sure that without a word nothing gets laundered....LOL....

This is a Rare Pick in deed of my Family all together. We made this using the tripod on Christmas eve. I am usually behind the camera of course. I am feeling so sentimental about everything this year since my sweet son is a senior in high school. We even got Max in this one.

Celebration of Lights...

Christmas is really here and Tomorrow!!! I can't believe it is all going to be over in less than 72 hours. All that shopping and in just a few minutes my children will fly through all that wrapping paper and be done. Oh well, it has been fun, as always and ya know we will just do the same darn thing all over again next year. I can't wait!!!!

We took a trip last night to The Festival of Lights at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mnt. Ga. Other that freezing our butts off on the trolley ride it was GREAT. It just wouldn't be the same without the trolley but last night happened to be the coldest night of the year here so far. Gotta Love this weather. Here are a few pics I made of Anna and "the boyfriend". The first real boyfriend for her might I add.

Merry Christmas...

Twas the night before Christmas, I'm glued to the tree.
I'm wondering what Santa brought just for me.
Could it be cardstock or chipboard or lace?
Or a Cricut, I said, with a smile on my face.
And that's when I heard him,
"Hi Santa, " I said
"You know....good little girls
should be in their beds."
"I know I should Santa,
and now I've got caught.
But I was just so excited
To see what you brought."
"Well, let's take a look
in this room where you work.
He shook his head quickly,
And left with a jerk.
I heard him exclaim
as he put it in gear.
"You've got enough ********,
I'll see you next year!"
